Happy Mother’s Day

So Happy Mother’s Day, this should go for Fur-Mothers Too. As it seems I forgot to have kids, or did I? To be continued.

As Single Barren Spinster we know the last thing parents of actual little humans is unsolicited advice from someone who has not spawned a baby. However please read this whole post to get the context to this brilliant parenting advice.

Last Monday I had an adventure to a shopping complex my carers and I call The Bad Lands/Knife Land. After a few purchases I visited the bathroom near a food court. Upon exiting to leave I could hear a screaming child. Immediately making my ovaries dry up. My eyes wild I searched for my carer to communicate to her to get me the hell away from that screaming child. Then we encountered said child and I felt awful. Said child and mum were sitting on the floor. The Mum trying to console her three or four year old daughter. She had run headfirst into a glass door then slid over. Probably in her own blood. I would guess this family, including the father standing nearby not knowing how to help were Indian. Another Indian woman was behind the mum on the floor looking on assessing the situation. I pegged her as staff of the shopping complex. She looked to be assessing if they should call an ambulance. She was looking to the Mum to make the decision. I made eye contact with the staff member hoping she read my non-verbal communication, as “Call an Ambulance!” Here’s the unsolicited advice? “If there are inconsolable tears and blood? Call an ambulance!” It’s not wrong though, is it?

I imagine the Mum had big plans that day and probably didn’t have the time to be waiting in a hospital emergency. But that little girl needed glue. They don’t do stitches these days and I suggest this because guess whose birthday it was that day? WORST BIRTHDAY EVER! She was going to have a scar from that memory.

Now, before you judge me for jumping the gun, take this into consideration. My father’s passing bought family from New South Wales and Queensland I either don’t see very often or haven’t seen since I was 18. Nice work Dad. My youngest cousin has a sixteen month old and her fiancé was sitting next to me at a catch up dinner around Boxing Day. He outsourced babysitting to another young second cousin, I would guess twelve. This was so he could eat dinner and so could his wife to be. The second five minutes of outsourcing babysitting the toddler was returned with a confession, “She had fallen over and hit her head!” Dad was brilliantly dismissive, with a “Don’t worry about it! Is she crying or bleeding?” I complimented him for this and I was informed “Ain’t my first rodeo!” (He has older children) I’m just saying they breed them tough in Queensland.

Lastly, I may not have had children, so people generally dismiss any advice I offer but people forget or don’t know I’ve been the older sibling to two younger sisters, the first of which was born on my 8th birthday. I used to bath her and do nappy duty. My second youngest sister I was studying full time, working part-time and still doing serious babysitting duties. I was then 16, it’s not only actual birth mothers that do the heavy lifting.

This is my fur-baby, Mika! She is desperate not to be a Lap Cat. She is very close on the back of the couch.

$8.69 – Part 1

Published March 22, 2019 by helentastic67

8 69 Part 1

$8.69 Part 1

$8.69, $8.69, $8.69 ad nauseum!

So, I moved into the apartment in late 2017 and had my first inspection in March. So far so good. Then I was asked if I could be available for another walk-through, about four months into my twelve-month lease.

First Inspection

I confess, to say even knowing the rental law for twenty years of renting etc, I was concerned. I had asked for the OK to get my fur baby, had been less for over a year now and sad. Still so sad.

Permission Fur Baby

So, I also started to worry this extra visit was related. Eventually, my property manager told me they had to bring through a guy to ‘value’ the property.

Value property

Oh, my God, what’s happening? Please don’t sell. I just go here.  You have no idea the drama it is to move when you have a disability. How much goes astray, how much I would sell, that gets given away, thrown away, donated, LOST, damaged, when you are one-handed.

Moving House

Anyway, the property manager bought the quiet man through and it was all very sterile and efficient. Not complaining but, my home wasn’t as clean as it had been for the inspection and of course, I was stressed so over thinking. A few months later, I received and email. It was late at night when I got to my email, that day. I thought – Cat? Or what? Oh, no! What? OMG, I got what?

Rent reduction

A RENT REDUCTION? WTF?

Small rent reduction

When do you ever hear about that?

Okay, it wasn’t much, yes, you guessed it. It was only $8.69 per month. But whose complaining.

OMG

I haven’t mentally spent it yet. However, I’m breathing a small sigh of relief.

How to spend it

Today’s Lunch

Good Mental Health Day

Have had a crazy week so far so really glad to have only lunch and my stabby appointments now on Wednesday.

Crazy Week

Have no idea how I’ve made it home the last two days! No idea, have walked and walked and carried (learnt nothing from my Milk post obviously!) so much! Got home Tuesday and weighed my bag before unpacking it. 5 kilos’! Unpacked it and it was still 2!

Walking

Friday is looking to be a crazy day, with an extra appointment with my guy who made my AFO, my GP and the chiropractor and that’s on top of the normal grocery shopping and my only food prep appointment for the week.

Friday

I’m exhausted and it’s only Tuesday night when I do my prep-work on this post. Is this week over yet? I am always surprised that people have no idea how knackered I am once home. People must see me and assume I’m energetic all the time because that’s probably how they see me when I’m out. They have no idea I got home Monday on a whiff of determination that I had to get home.

Knackered

I even went upstairs to unpack my bag from my adventures in the city, then went back down to go to the local supermarket just to get milk and kitchen-tidy bags as I wouldn’t make it to Friday. I avoided what I call “Danger Alley!” So, or to buy unnecessary items and you pick which supermarket I live way too close to? It’s the one with all the weird stuff you wouldn’t find in the one place in any other country other than Germany? (Hint! Hint!) still ended up getting about 5 things!

Aldi

Oh, here’s a nice Lebanese pizza I had last week. Close to home.  Can’t tell you how confused the girl was when I ordered Vegetarian but asked they put salami on it! What?  (Handy Hint!)

Lebanese Pizza

And today’s offering? Because it looked too big to eat I ordered half a Mediterranean focaccia. So, yummy bitter green olives, eggplant, feta and zucchini. With my standard medicine.

PanniniLatte

Then because I decided I could eat more, this naughty little chocolate tart!

Chocolate Pudding

I stayed close to home before my stabby appointment as I didn’t have the luxury of seeing Young John. But will make up for it by walking home.

Walking home

Also, a picture of Mika my new fur-baby. Just proof she has settled in even sleeping snuggled against my legs overnight telling me she trusts me. Yeah, that’s the sign. For those who don’t speak Cat!

Mika

Cheers,

Have a great week

Today’s Lunch

Good Mental Health Day

Ok, let’s see what I can squeeze into what used to be my standard traditional Wednesday lunch post?

MRI results, 5000+ steps in a day! What? You heard! And Vox pop! Visit from me mum! (Yes, on purpose) I love my mum! Fish curry and maybe a trip to Bunnings for picture rails because living in an apartment that’s not as old as I am means I just put picture hooks up everywhere to hang my prints.

MRI

You know you have not officially moved in until you have hung your artwork! I am attempting to convince my landlord I put up picture rails and paint them to match the walls, so rather than make good when I move out, I make better and leave it as is.

Artwork

Have also heard of a potential 12-week-old female fur-baby looking for a new home. So, I guess I might be onto my property manager again. Anyone sense I’m not adverse to pester-power? I mean, if it works for kids, why not me?

New fur baby

So, today’s offering? Well, didn’t get to my fav cafe today, so lunch!

Empty plate
Oh, yeah. I guess I’ll circle back and give you the results of last week’s MRI’s? They are normal! Normal? Who/when/why/when have I ever been called Normal? Normal always seems over-rated!

Being Normal

Yeah, my brain, it’s still up there! (Ba da boom!) brain injury humour, my mum did not laugh and my spine (which I wanted to rule out a second disc-Bulge) was rather normal with the usual degeneration, that’s nice isn’t it? So, for the mystery pain and other issues the mystery continues.

Mystery pain

And I did 5,000+ steps yesterday! And yes, my legs hurt! Both of them. Looking forward to seeing my Chiro today where she’s to put that damn rib back in again and sort out this eternal migraine, when does it end?

Today’s lunch

Good Mental Health Day

I’ve really got to stop doing things to report on in the first half of the week! Or my lunch/good mental health day post is going to be less foodie more updatey! (It should be a word!) all I’m saying!

Good Mental Health

Monday, Public holiday did some gardening which is ironic since I live on the second floor of an apartment complex these days.

Gadenimg

Went to a AGM on Tuesday that was over-due from last year. Started the day with a migraine ended it with an even bigger one. Not happy! But something was achieved at the meeting. Only time will tell…

AGM

Can now provide you with an ok photo of my bruises from last Tuesday’s fall. This is a week later and my left arm, you know how I have less sensation on that side, right? It still hurts! Oh, I created a new swear word today! Fairy truck! Who says Fairies don’t have trucks or drive? You never know, they might? Yes, you may use it but you can only do so if you credit Hellonwheels/Lifeonehanded.
Your welcome!

Now, today’s lunch! A Capresse pizza with side salad. With medicine and a complimentary tiramisu macaron. Yum!

Lunch 2Latte

Cookie

Had my first inspection with my property manager this morning, I’ve never had a problem but I really wanted to prompt that awkward convo about when I can have a fur-baby? I thought it might go something like this “So, I really want a miniature Shetland pony. I had ponies as a child!” (Shaking head, no I didn’t) no? “How about a kitten? Maybe?” (Hopeful, raised eyebrows?)

New Furbaby
She said she would speak to the landlord.
Fingers crossed.

Hot off the Press

Monday! Such an early start when some SOB (scratch that) person! Rang my doorbell! I again presume my landlady who should be aware I could drop down and ring her doorbell at 2am when I go to bed and I won’t attempt to rush down her front stairs or if I did I could injure myself. Ah, I guess if I injure myself it’s their fault? Just checking.

Insurance? Ka-Ching! Not worth it but I’m having a little internal chuckle. Game on! So, cannot wait to move!

Adventure

Busy day, adventure to neighbouring suburb. On the povo-trail as I call it. (Povo, short for poverty)
I skipped my Osteo appointment so I could make sure I would be at my best to go see a property close by. It’s cheaper and has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms! Ok, one less bedroom than here. No street view, backyard or grass anywhere, and a smaller balcony than my current backyard. But a potential home for my new cat? Warm in Melbourne, have I ever mentioned 25 is my happy place for warm weather? I am such an old lady remind me what happened to spring?

Poverty trail

Tuesday! Starting to get better with having breakfast before my carer every other week when I have my massage at home, after we went for coffee.
And…..
Oops! Did it again!

Almond CrossiantLatte

Saw my GP, had lots on his list today. Turns out there is no test for diagnosing Thorasic Outlet Syndrome, it’s only a clinic diagnosis. So, I just need that in writing please so I can have NDIA to fund my Osteo, Mio/remedial needs Funding? Mmmmmmmm……. Caught a tram home, I got out part way to visit some shops (all walking distance.) Did some hunter/gathering and decided to walk home via a visit with Wilbur.

Sleeping

Oh, also had some time with this bit of fluff, Frankie whose dad told me he must really like me. Although this is Frankie ignoring me. His dad had gone inside to order and return with more doggy treats.

Frankie

Made it home in one piece with 5,300+ on my pedometer. So buggered didn’t help that it was rather warm today.

Wednesday, my standard Punchy/stubby day without the shabby part. My acupuncturist is away rubbing shoulders with political minds. Dropped in for a visit with Bella. No joy. Scootered home and dropped in for a visit with Matt, who has developed the 9 apartments down the street with his wife and friend. Shared some photos of cars. I don’t drive, but I like a nice car. Here are some photos of the car Matt had worked on earlier that day.

By the end of the day I networked and shared some photos of my uncle’s cars. He has restored.

Otherwise, just some nice photos of cars for you if that’s your thing. (It should not be imagined that I have money, am related to people with money, or have friends with money.) Just an appreciation for nice cars I will never drive.

Ah, must mention before I move on, at the start of the day I couldn’t feel my left foot and most of my left leg and side.  By about 2pm I could as it had started to hurt, stock standard day really. By the end of the day, ok almost Midnight, I’ve realised it’s almost the end of the year in the bigger scheme of things and I’m wondering if it’s normal I’ve only seen one family member all year! Thank God for my mum, right? I haven’t seen my two sisters or my father. I have two cousins in Melbourne. One of which I wouldn’t mind seeing at more than funerals. Again, is this weird?

Weird family

Have I mentioned, my home is so hot in the warmer months that I have to put anything that melts into the fridge. Chocolate, Nutella and now, coconut oil! It’s completely liquidified. It’s time to move!
Does anybody believe in the concept of ‘Timing?” This week marks the passing of me applying for my 4th apartment this year. And knowing I can’t give notice to vacate until I find my new home, because, I can’t just live in any flat, unit, apartment, whatever. I don’t drive, so can’t live miles away from transport or my (well, let’s not mince words: Clifton Hill and my fav cafe and stomping ground) and I can’t do stairs or a shower over the bath and electric stovetop, etc. etc. Today I found out I got a place and now I can give notice! I can even start stalking my next fur-baby, by Christmas!

Melting chocolate
Excited………………

Wow! That didn’t take long…… Life can’t let you be happy for a single God damn minute can it? Believing the Universe will look after things all goes to hell.

Welcome to my Friday, where I have mentioned the Wheels fell off! My replacement carer for my Homecare/shopping my only Foodie Prep shift cancelled sick. The agency didn’t have a replacement, I outsourced myself to my newest agency and was very lucky to get someone for only 2 hours towards the end of the day.

So, I pulled up my big-girl pants and got on Hellonwheels got a jaunt to the other supermarket I live in-between two major supermarkets. Near (it will be my milk bar when I move. Won’t even need my scooter) got half of my shopping list and on the way home stopped at my old real estate. Gave notice! Thinking I should have waited a few more days as the new apartment won’t be available until the 18th and I need a few days to arrange carpets and cleaning to be done before my notice is up here. Family politics doing my head in. Again, seriously thinking to spend Christmas at home alone. With my new fur-baby. No, haven’t gone to meet any new cats, just know I’ll be getting one ASAP!
Finishing the week feeling flat and sad.

Going shopping

Saturday. No medicine! Must be dying not to fit in a coffee!

No Coffee

Sunday, skipped lunch to squeeze in my medicine. Then had lunch for dinner, happy Sunday. Half a comic was read this week. Comics didn’t rate high on the priority list this week. I’ll catch up in a few to be sure.

Sunday

Have my NDIS review this week! I will finally have the meeting with an actual Planner about my “Goals” pity I didn’t get this meeting a year ago. I don’t know how they imagine I can find my way to knowing what my Goals might be when money is so tight. I would be happy to start with if they paid for my shoes, my chiropractor and my Shrink. As well as continue to pay for my carers……..so I can start to breathe a little. Then, maybe I can consider some Goals.
Another big week to come.

Goals
Cheers,

Today’s lunch

Today’s Foodie good mental health day is well needed today. Feeling a little emotionally brittle today. If Robert the owner gives me his standard greeting of “Hello Beautiful!” I might cry.

Hello beautiful

Had a dream this morning and I could hear a cat purring in my ear, if you don’t know, I put my fur baby down in March so I don’t yet have my new fur-baby!

I did get to fang it! At top speed to where I park hellonwheels while I’m out. The scooter has 2 speeds. Tortoise and hare. But then it’s all by throttle and I didn’t go slowly. Shit to do! Places to go! Things to do! Medicine to be had!

Speeding hell on wheels

And also wearing my scootering t-shirt today. On the front are the words “Eat. Sleep. Ride. Repeat” it has become my Wednesday scootering T.

T shirt

Today’s offering. Despite it being hot today. I’m having another Arancini Bolognaise with side salad and of course my medicine.

Fur Baby

In Memory Of Jamima

This one is for TRT (Tummy Rum Tuesday) which is my absolute favourite post to read on a Tuesday. I always save it for last.

Jamima Patch Pirate Cat Puddleduck! (Is her official name) Jamima Puddleduck was the name she kinda came with and we added the rest because of the patch of colour over her eye and early penchant for liking to sit on our shoulder. Just like a Pirate’s parrot…

Jamima Puddleduck

Jamima came from a house across the town that had 5 cats! 5! And there were three litters of kittens all at once. I know. Bit extreme that all five cats were not fixed. Jamima was a runt of her litter apparently. She came home with my housemate and I when she was five or nine weeks old. Two of the other kittens (black and white boy and a girl) were adopted by B’s mum who paid for all three to be de-sexed, which was nice.

I would love Jamima to have had kittens as she would be much more settled and calmer now, but I also know her kittens would have been even harder to part with.

I bonded with Jamima early, I guess I kinda become her mother. B, the cool now housemate previously mentioned would put her on his turn-table and played with her a lot.

Turntable

But he also did the “Bad-Parenting” letting her scratch the bejesus out of things that should not be scratched.

Jamima and I have moved four times now and she’s now 15-ish. Housemate ‘B’ lived in the first two houses and then sadly, he decided he couldn’t afford real rent. You know, to have had a proper roof, a bathroom that wasn’t falling apart and we were no longer housemates.

He was really chilled-out ‘cool’ housemate and I miss him, but I made it clear when we weren’t housemates anymore I was keeping Jamima.

Makes it sounds like he was my boyfriend? Read it again!  He wasn’t. So Jamima is my greatest companion in these lonely days of being a barren, single, crazy cat lady.

Crazy cat lady

Yes, I’ve got the crazy cat lady mentality despite only having one cat.

There are evenings she just stays in bed until I chase her out, insisting this is why I have her. Love her, feed her.

So, I don’t spend every single night on the couch alone, this is her job.

If you are a new Hellonwheels visitor/convert, you might like to check out some earlier posts.

Jamima

Sadly, earlier in 2017 my last responsibility as Jamima’s fur-mum was to take her to the vet one last time. Still now, it makes me very sad. I have not yet welcomed a new fur-child into my heart and my home as moving home has needed to happen first. I miss her every day.

But it’s still nice my followers get to hear how weird and special she was.

You can catch up on her previous post here…….

Hot off the Press 0409

This week! Less chaos! Let’s go for that!

Monday, happy I got shrunk! (My fond term for seeing my psychologist!) this good humour doesn’t just come naturally you know……….

A few months back, Melbourne suffered the same fate as many cities around the world.
For security purposes big concrete bollards were put in strategic locations for our protection.
Initially, there was outrage. But in true Melbourne style. We made Art! Thankfully, the Yarn-bombing didn’t last. I do not get it…….

The powers that be were attempting to discourage rope from being creative because the bollards were only hired and would need to go back.

Back where, I ask?

So, this is Melbourne’s answer to ugly things placed in our city for our safety. Yes, it’s Lego! Yes, a tourist photobombed my photo opportunity and yes, sometimes we seem to have way too much time on our hands. But c’mon, this is Melbourne. We love our coffee, our art and our freedom to live and be safe.

IMG_3210

Finally got to get to the Arts Centre in the city to see my friends instillation of Handstands…….
Witches Hat

This is what Melbournians refer to as the Witches Hat! Originally it was meant to be much taller. But it’s an Icon all the same.
Handstand

Stop on the way home to post my dad his Father’s Day gift. Found a woman’s car keys and reunited her with them before she got too far. I love that when I held out my hand with her keys, all she could do was mouth out the words “thank you!” She wouldn’t have gotten far but no one likes that moment of panicking. All is right in the world.

Migraine meant an afternoon kip. I always prefer a kip than drugs to fix my migraine……..and my Wednesday trip to my Chiro.

Tuesday. No appointments out of the house. Two-hour meeting with my Case Manager then some serious never-ending admin.

Finally got to the GOT finale………
I don’t do Plot spoilers but when I give a little commentary they will not mean anything to people unfamiliar with the show but to those who watch it they will have a little smile and know exactly what I’m hinting at. Then if you do decide to watch it, you might be tempted to further understand what I’m going on about……

Game of thrones 1

“That Pie chic could go into hospitality with a difference”. (because I can never remember that character’s name). Followed by “Wolfe!” And then there was 2!

That’s it! A friend mentioned the naked chests, bare bottoms, sex and the occasional incest to which I ask “Define occasional?” And finally, Snow turned to Sand! And sadly, that is it for another season……..

Game of thrones

Have I mentioned I am not a patient woman?

Wednesday, you hopefully read my Wednesday foodie mental health day post? So, the food part is covered. Standard Chiro, and acupuncture then a visit with Bella. Very happy. Dropped into see Wilbur at the newsagents but he doesn’t go to work on Wednesdays! What the? Wilbur is a cat that is in residence at a newsagent in my suburb. He sleeps on a cushion on the counter and was hand raised from only 2 weeks old so they took him to work to feed him throughout the day. He languishes on the counter top or the chair behind the counter. Happily, Monday the shop keeper lifted Wilbur up onto the counter for me to give him a pat. He seems very content for complete strangers to try to be friends. So happy!

Wilbur

Thursday, what a roller coaster. While sitting on the couch in the lounge with the backdoor open, I heard a questioning meow from the kitchen. (Weird right since I don’t have a cat right now!) I gave a friendly hello and decided against getting up to investigate. It’s not the first time a cat has come all the way into my home uninvited since Jamima went to God in March. I later ventured to the kitchen to discover said cat had left me a nasty smell. (Damn it!)

Thursday
Had a nice visit from Aunty Christine for a little snack and coffee. My lunch, her afternoon tea. It’s nice to catch up on the girls I used to have here. Unfortunately, I learnt I had offended one of the girls and was heartbroken to learn we were no longer friends. Spent the rest of the day feeling sick and light-hearted. It seems I can have a case of foot and mouth disease and am not given the benefit of the doubt enough to even discuss it with me. Just sad.

Foot and mouth

Friday’s are becoming very strange days. I’m getting into a habit of eating lunch at a reasonably lunch-ish time on account of my Carer not arriving for my second shift until 2pm! Making me pose the question, Is the world off its axis? Seem to be back enjoying my time with a Carer on the Friday, despite being 20 years younger than me(constant moments of were you even born back then moments?) but a very similar humour and quick wit!

Coffee

Stocked up on medicine(coffee) and even dropped my spring doona cover to the dry cleaners to get pressed.

Happy Spring by the way!

Spring

First of September, my peach tree is still yet to blossom but guaranteed to share a photo ASAP. Was close to the newsagents where Wilbur languishes his day away on the counter so got a drop-in visit. I’m really appreciating the neighbourhood cats. Not the black and white number that thinks he can spray my territory. Maybe it will get me through until I can relocate and get my next fur-baby.

Took the time to call my Pa as my home town made the news (for all the wrong reasons) the nursing home down the road from my father has had 7 fatalities from the Flu. Awful, isn’t it! I understand it’s common practice for the residents in nursing homes to be quarantined in their rooms when a flu epidemic hits. Meal times reduced to meals served with plastic cutlery. Very ordinary. FYI; Jack, my grandfather built that nursing home in my home town.

Wangaratta

My father was rather unsympathetic to my plight of not finding anything suitable or affordable to call my new home. I don’t bother unpacking everything because he just doesn’t get the big picture. He even suggested I move somewhere for a year until I can find something else that’s better.  Because I’m really not wanting to move twice. All the relocating drama! Changing all my details, unpacking, repacking, changing addresses, changing my home phone number. Hell no!

Moving house
The day ended with a meal in my slow cooker, dinner in the oven and a quiet weekend of binging TV ahead. If all goes to plan.

Saturday and Sunday very lazy as I always hope. Real Melbourne spring weather has set in. Rain, wind and Chinese laundry in my lounge room and my desire to not leave the house.

Call me crazy, but I think I’m having another long weekend. Five Joss Whedon comics moved around my home. I’m currently reading season 9 of Buffy! (as in the Vampire Slayer) yeah, and people thought it ended before that, but no it continued in comic form. Happy days for all!
Now, for another crazy week in the life of Hellonwheels.

Cheers,
H

Crazy week ahead

Hot off the Press – 14th August 2017

Published August 14, 2017 by helentastic67

Hot off the Press kitten

So, today’s Hot! Off the press is bought to you by this picture…………

I saw these clocks a while ago at the Swedish warehouse and figured I’ve got a big empty wall in my lounge. This would be cheaper than framing a poster from my trip around the UK and Europe in ’94.

I know I don’t have eyes in the back of my head to see said clock on my lounge wall. But semantics.

When I was in the Swedish warehouse debating with my mum if I could afford the clock, I said; “What’s that? If I carry it I can get it?”

The wall is still bare.

Monday had a use day going to the DAC I’m part of. Ok, fine! Disability Advisory Committee, as usual I end up doing a little facilitating because I have something to share and I’m able to do it in a pointed and formatted way. The meeting was actually on housing in the region particularly the needs of people on the public housing list and that in the Next 10 years over 14,000 more people are expected to settle in the area to call it their home.

Meeting

I used the example of the house that was demolished across the street from me last week. Although it’s only properties where there are more than 30 apartments that will be required to cater to people with disabilities. This is how public housing is trying to avoid the ghetto mentality of some large developments. As there will be owner/occupiers as well as investors/renters that choose to reside there. The general public are outraged the carparks at shopping centres and markets (council owned) look to be redeveloped for these purposes.

Public housing

While, I don’t love it, I get it. I might also not like to live there, I might not have a choice. One day.

From there to my Osteopath appointment and the day went smoothly from there.

My friend Michael dropped me home after an adventure to J-Car! A place I refer to as another tech-friends Temple. I still managed to pick up a few short extension cords. 1 and 2 metres. Always handy to have.

Tech support

Arrived home and Michael attempted to do a little tech support for me. I have a 5 turn-table CD player that I have not been able to use for years as I no longer have an Amp and I wasn’t prepared to sacrifice any of my other tech creature comforts. My DVD provides my surround sound. For everything else.

It should be stating, I’ve deskilled for this kind of tech requirements over the years and as I can’t afford to pay anyone I reward with coffee and muffins. Everyone wins!

After 2 hours, I suggested if he couldn’t fix it I was ok to stand up for a smacking across the bottom. Michael suggested he should have asked more questions and it was more likely to warrant a smack across the face. Not what I’d prefer but a girl can try.

Solution? Helen needs some kind of Receiver. (So, in laments terms an Amp!)

Tuesday a very lazy day again! No complaints.

Wednesday, I was on the Provo trail for food vouchers. So back to the same neighbourhood as Monday but by taxi this time. Did a great deal of walking Wednesday, making up for Tuesday. I even caught the train for about five stops. Because I didn’t get a seat and didn’t want to have to ask for one I stood for about 20 minutes on the train which was like a slow Power-Fit workout. The day ended with 6,000+ steps on the pedometer.

Just an FYI, waving your smart phone in the air or walking around inside holding the phone does not get you steps. Holding the phone to your hip while getting those last 50 steps to get over the 6,000 mark. Gold!

I hope you are all aware I do things every day to help with my depression. I really appreciate the little things in life that put a smile on my face. Because life isn’t all about doom and gloom. Hence, the little witty stories that may seem out of place and make people wonder what Hellonwheels is all about.

Depression

Thursday, got to lay low and have a lazy day at home. Much needed after my marathon effort walking on Wednesday. Again, still not complaining!

Dropped into visit Bella/Killer and no joy! Last week I got to have a moment with her when a mum came in with young children who raced over to chase her away. Will try harder this week. Still no fur-child at Helen’s………….

Cat cafe

It seems this week I’ve had a day on day off all week long. By Friday late afternoon I had a migraine and couldn’t feel much of my left side.

I seemed to barely scrape through to be off-grid on Saturday. Again, ignored my single girl date night film evening to catch up on some TV, as I’m feeling the pressure since all the TV I watch starts again in September and I’m too far behind to allow myself to catch up on movies.

Watching TV

I otherwise had a little email contact with some of my blogger colleagues. It’s rare but really nice. Most days I send or receive messages from one of my blogger friends on Messenger. These small but hugely significant contact really makes my day. As other than my carer, I have no other human contact which seems insane.

Bloggers

Phillip my friend who visited some weeks back was surprised no one reaches out to me to ask how I’m going. I do my Outreach efforts mostly on a Wednesday while out and about and he is one person I reach out to. If he doesn’t receive a text from me by Friday I hear from him. Does anyone else share this experience?

Sunday night I watched the Australian 60 minutes and it featured a story about social media Influencers. An Aussie who takes a photo of herself in a bikini every day, because apparently, it’s beach wear we all live in. A few of my fellow bloggers and I currently suffer from the ‘we are not rich enough’ scenario, for want of a better term. Ladies? Bikini a day is taken. I wonder how many out there would pay not to see me in a bikini. I don’t think I’m touching a bikini ever again… Any takers? Just a thought. And I hope you all realise I mean this in a totally non-trolling kinda way…….perhaps we are not adapting to this new potential income stream that the youngsters are on?

60 minutes

Looks like I’m starting a new week with the migraine that has been lingering since Friday. Seems it is at least my constant companion.

Should be said; I managed to read four comics this last week! Feel like doing an impersonation of the Count off Sesame Street! I can totally justify collecting my three-monthly supply of comics on my trip to the city Tuesday. I receive a discount because I do this. File under cost saving hints!

Here’s for another week!

Happy Monday

Cheers,

H
